The 2016 Fifth Grade Scholars Program was held on Sunday, May 1st at Stewart Hall Auditorium on the campus of Southern University. Fifty 5th grade students from East Baton Rouge Parish School System and Baker Community Schools were honored at this event. A capacity crowd of parents, community friends, ministers, teachers, principals, and other school officials were in attendance.
The 5th grade scholars were honored for their scholastic achievement, as well as their participation in the essay and display competition on the topic "What Impact Can Bullying Have on Your Achievement as a Student." The Challenge was given to the Fifth Grade Scholars by Corporal Lisa Blackman, East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office.
